A member of the Republican Party, he served as the 50th attorney general of Ohio from 2011 to 2019, as a United States senator from Ohio from 1995 to 2007, and in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1983 to 1991.
Vivek Ganapathy Ramaswamy is an American billionaire entrepreneur and politician. He founded Roivant Sciences, a biotechnological pharmaceutical company, in 2014 and was its chief executive officer until 2021. Ramaswamy entered national politics as the youngest presidential candidate in the 2024 Republican primaries, but withdrew his bid and endorsed Donald Trump. He is currently the Republican nominee for governor of Ohio in the 2026 gubernatorial election and has been endorsed by both Trump and the Ohio Republican Party.
Amy Leigh Acton is an American physician and researcher who is the Democratic nominee for governor of Ohio. From 2019 to 2020, Acton served as the director of the Ohio Department of Health, in which capacity she led Ohio's COVID-19 pandemic response. Before and immediately after serving as director of the Ohio Department of Health, she worked at the Columbus Foundation. She left the foundation upon announcing her candidacy in the 2026 Ohio gubernatorial election.
