Peter King (Republican Party) (also known as Pete) was a member of the U.S. House, representing New York's 2nd Congressional District. He assumed office on January 3, 2013. He left office on January 3, 2021. King (Republican Party) ran for re-election to the U.S. House to represent New York's 2nd Congressional District. He did not appear on the ballot for the Republican primary on June 23, 2020. On November 11, 2019, King announced he wouldnot seek re-electionin 2020. In a statement, King said he intended to remain in his hometown of Seaford, New York, and to be active politically. Prior his election to the U.S. House, King was the Nassau County comptroller and a member of the Hempstead Town Council. He was a practicing attorney before running for elected office.
