He did not appear on the ballot for the Republican primary on June 23, 2020. On November 11, 2019, King announced he wouldnot seek re-electionin 2020. In a statement, King said he intended to remain in his hometown of Seaford, New York, and to be active politically. Prior his election to the U.S. House, King was the Nassau County comptroller and a member of the Hempstead Town Council. He was a practicing attorney before running for elected office.
