J. Mandela Barnes is an American politician who served as the 45th lieutenant governor of Wisconsin from 2019 to 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, he was the state representative for Wisconsin's 11th Assembly district from 2013 to 2017. Barnes was the first African American to serve as Wisconsin's lieutenant governor.
