Evan Bayh (b. December 26, 1955, in Shirkieville, Indiana) was a 2016Democraticcandidate who sought election to the U.S. SenatefromIndiana. Bayh previously served in the Senate from 1999 to 2011. He did not seek re-election in 2010, allowing the Republican Party to pick up the seat. Bayh has also previously served as governor and secretary of state of Indiana.
