I know what service is, that's why I joined the military, and why I'm choosing to continue that service now. \r\n<p>I'm an independent, and I have been for about a decade or more now because I see the Right and Left as more interested in maintaining power than taking care of their constituents. They've allowed big businesses and billionaire donors to dictate the legislation they fight for while the voice of their voters gets lost in the noise. \r\n</p>\nIn my military service I've been in charge of very diverse teams, often including partners from countries that don't operate the same way the US does. I was always successful in bringing people together to focus on a shared mission: putting the people first and executing the mission. That's the approach I'll bring to Olympia. The people and voice of LD-06 and Eastern Washington deserves to be heard and fought for in Olympia. Holding healthcare providers accountable, making price transparency the standard, no surprise costs, protecting rural and critical access hospitals along with so many other aspects needs to be addressed. These problems don't exist without solutions. Lawmakers simply need to put the welfare of the people back as the #1 priority. No more pandering to the elites, and no more partisan bickering that prevents readily available solutions from being put in place!</li><li>Cost of living continues to rise while wages stagnate. Corporations see record years of profit over and over, meanwhile the people struggle to afford rent, groceries, or other simple necessities. Youth fear they may never be able to afford purchasing a house, and they are justified in that fear. Childcare is out of reach for so many, preventing people from returning to the workforce, and taxes in Washington are the second most regressive in the nation! Instead of fixing these issues, partisan politicians concern themselves with gotcha politics and scoring soundbite \"wins\" over their opponents. The people of LD-06 deserve a politician who will fight for them, not their party.</li><li>Local businesses are the lifeblood to local economies, and big box chains may provide some convenience, but it comes at the cost of the local economy and small business owners. Reducing barriers to entry, building local capital access for entrepreneurs and small businesses, encouraging light manufacturing, trades, and skills production, while leveling the playing field for small businesses and entrepreneurs through fair competition policies are all ways we can reinforce local economies.
