We should not allow anyone, but especially not our own government, to break its word and take from our country's seniors. What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? As a former teacher, I am particularly passionate about education and the impact it has on every facet of American life. I am interested in working with the Small Business Administration to find ways to ease that burden. As someone who has experienced our broken healthcare system firsthand, I am passionate about healthcare access and maintaining critical medical services provided through Medicaid and the V.A. What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official? Integrity, honesty, and empathy are the most important characteristics an elected official can possess. What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office? Members of the House of Representatives are responsible for crafting our nation's budget, passing our laws, and providing a strong Constitutional check on the two other branches of our federal government through Congressional oversight. What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time? The fall of the Berlin Wall. I was 8 at the time. What committees interest you? House Education and Workforce Committee House Small Business Committee House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee House Ethics Committee What are your views on financial transparency and government accountability?
