As the parents of four young kids, Orlando and Jessica Sonza know this all too well. People everywhere are paying more at the gas pump, the supermarket, and at local mom-and-pop shops. It's become a luxury to bring your family out to dinner or your kids to the movies.\n

The policies of the Biden administration have dramatically increased inflation.\n

Orlando believes that the U.S. should take a two-pronged approach to curb inflation. First, we need to rein in government spending and reduce our reliance on deficit spending. This will require tough choices and prioritization of our national budget.\n

Second, we need to implement policies that will encourage economic growth and increase the supply of goods and services. This includes investing in infrastructure, reducing burdensome regulations, and supporting small businesses.\n

BANKING & INTEREST RATES\nLike most people, Orlando has been alarmed at the recent failure of many banks across the country. He understands the importance for the U.S. government takes swift action to stabilize the financial system and ease public fears.\n

However, Orlando does not believe that the government should bail out failing banks. Especially banks that have engaged in risky business practices and have focused more on ESG policies than sound financial policy.\n

Instead, we should focus on regulatory reforms that will prevent future collapses and ensure that banks are operating in a safe and sound manner.\n

Orlando acknowledges that raising interest rates is one form of monetary policy used to curb inflation, however he believes that the Federal Reserve should take a balanced approach, considering both inflation and economic growth when making decisions about interest rate policy.\n

TAXES
\nA fiscal conservative, Orlando believes that everyone should pay their fair share in taxes, but will fight to ensure that our tax system does not disproportionately burden any one group. \n

We can’t tax ourselves to prosperity. As in everything, we need to find a balance. We need those that have been more fortunate to invest in their businesses, raise wages, and provide economic growth to the economy. We must be careful to not tax ourselves into economic constriction or retraction.\n

As a member of congress, Orlando will advocate for three major changes to our tax system:\n

*Simplify the tax code: The current tax code is overly complicated and burdensome for taxpayers. I propose simplifying the tax code to make it easier for Americans to understand and comply with.\n

*Increase small business tax incentives: Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we should do everything we can to support them. I propose increasing tax incentives for small businesses to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation.\n

*Reduce wasteful government spending: The federal government spends too much money on unnecessary programs and initiatives. I propose cutting wasteful spending to reduce the federal deficit and free up resources for more important priorities.\n

LOCAL INFRASTRUCTURE\nOur infrastructure is aging and in desperate need of improvements. Projects like the Brent Spence Bridge and the Western Hills Viaduct have been overlooked for decades. Tens of thousands of residents rely on these thoroughfares on a daily basis to get from their homes to their jobs, schools, and churches.\n

As your next congressman, Orlando Sonza will develop local, state, and federal partnerships to find the funding for our much needed infrastructure improvements. These improvements will greatly benefit our community and economy by bringing hundreds of new jobs to the district.\n

SECURING AMERICA
\nCRIME\nAs an Assistant Prosecutor in Hamilton County, Orlando understands the importance of focusing on real crime prevention. As a former military officer he knows what it takes to keep our nation safe. And as a son of immigrants, Orlando can speak to the importance of securing our southern border while at the same time working to fix our broken immigration system so that immigrants can come here safely and legally and pursue the American dream just like Orlando's family.\n

The spike in violence here in the First District is due to a variety of factors, including economic uncertainty and social unrest. In Congress, Orlando will work to increase funding for community policing and mental health resources to address the root causes of violence.\n

Orlando also believes that in order to deter crime we must have fair and effective laws. He supports judges' use of discretion to determine whether someone poses a flight risk or danger to the community in the assessment of bail and proper sentencing.\n

As your congressman, Orlando will fight to strengthen our military, secure our border, and stand up for our Second Amendment rights all while working to restore order in our cities, build strong communities, and protect innocent lives—from the unborn to the elderly.\n

POLICING
\nOrlando stands alongside our law enforcement officers and first responders.\n

Defunding or “reimagining” law enforcement is not the answer. Instead, we need to invest in training and resources to improve police practices and increase transparency and accountability. Orlando believes that body cameras should be mandatory for all police officers, and we need to work to build trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve.\n

NATIONAL DEFENSE\nAs a former U.S. Army Officer and graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Orlando is dedicated to ensuring that we maintain a strong and efficient military fully capable of defending the United States and our allies.\n

As a member of Congress, Orlando will prioritize a strong national defense. Any attack on the United States should be met with a diligent and measured response. Orlando will always fight for the safety and security of all American citizens, both at home and abroad.\n

PROTECTING FAMILIES
\nPARENTAL RIGHTS\nOur rights as parents have been under attack in our country. There are those who advocate for government interference in our parental decisions, whether it’s in how we educate our kids, how we choose to provide for their healthcare, or in how we choose to bring them up in today’s world. \n

As your congressman, I’ll defend our rights as parents. I’ll fight to protect our freedom to choose the best educational options for our kids and ensure that their healthcare decisions remain with us, the parents—not bureaucrats in Washington.\n

SCHOOL CHOICE
\nAs the father of four kids below the age of 8, Orlando is committed to ensuring that all students, no matter their background, have access to quality education. That's why he is a supporter of school choice vouchers.\n

Orlando believes that charter schools offer parents and students more educational options, especially for those who may not have access to high-quality public schools. As the parents of four young kids, Orlando and Jessica Sonza know this all too well. People everywhere are paying more at the gas pump, the supermarket, and at local mom-and-pop shops. It's become a luxury to bring your family out to dinner or your kids to the movies. The policies of the Biden administration have dramatically increased inflation. Orlando believes that the U.S. should take a two-pronged approach to curb inflation. First, we need to rein in government spending and reduce our reliance on deficit spending. This will require tough choices and prioritization of our national budget. Second, we need to implement policies that will encourage economic growth and increase the supply of goods and services. This includes investing in infrastructure, reducing burdensome regulations, and supporting small businesses. BANKING & INTEREST RATES Like most people, Orlando has been alarmed at the recent failure of many banks across the country. He understands the importance for the U.S. government takes swift action to stabilize the financial system and ease public fears. However, Orlando does not believe that the government should bail out failing banks. Especially banks that have engaged in risky business practices and have focused more on ESG policies than sound financial policy. Instead, we should focus on regulatory reforms that will prevent future collapses and ensure that banks are operating in a safe and sound manner. Orlando acknowledges that raising interest rates is one form of monetary policy used to curb inflation, however he believes that the Federal Reserve should take a balanced approach, considering both inflation and economic growth when making decisions about interest rate policy. TAXES A fiscal conservative, Orlando believes that everyone should pay their fair share in taxes, but will fight to ensure that our tax system does not disproportionately burden any one group. We can’t tax ourselves to prosperity. As in everything, we need to find a balance. We need those that have been more fortunate to invest in their businesses, raise wages, and provide economic growth to the economy. We must be careful to not tax ourselves into economic constriction or retraction. As a member of congress, Orlando will advocate for three major changes to our tax system: * Simplify the tax code: The current tax code is overly complicated and burdensome for taxpayers. I propose simplifying the tax code to make it easier for Americans to understand and comply with. * Increase small business tax incentives: Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we should do everything we can to support them. I propose increasing tax incentives for small businesses to encourage entrepreneurship and innovation. * Reduce wasteful government spending: The federal government spends too much money on unnecessary programs and initiatives. I propose cutting wasteful spending to reduce the federal deficit and free up resources for more important priorities. LOCAL INFRASTRUCTURE Our infrastructure is aging and in desperate need of improvements. Projects like the Brent Spence Bridge and the Western Hills Viaduct have been overlooked for decades. Tens of thousands of residents rely on these thoroughfares on a daily basis to get from their homes to their jobs, schools, and churches. As your next congressman, Orlando Sonza will develop local, state, and federal partnerships to find the funding for our much needed infrastructure improvements. These improvements will greatly benefit our community and economy by bringing hundreds of new jobs to the district. SECURING AMERICA CRIME As an Assistant Prosecutor in Hamilton County, Orlando understands the importance of focusing on real crime prevention. As a former military officer he knows what it takes to keep our nation safe. And as a son of immigrants, Orlando can speak to the importance of securing our southern border while at the same time working to fix our broken immigration system so that immigrants can come here safely and legally and pursue the American dream just like Orlando's family. The spike in violence here in the First District is due to a variety of factors, including economic uncertainty and social unrest. In Congress, Orlando will work to increase funding for community policing and mental health resources to address the root causes of violence. Orlando also believes that in order to deter crime we must have fair and effective laws. He supports judges' use of discretion to determine whether someone poses a flight risk or danger to the community in the assessment of bail and proper sentencing. As your congressman, Orlando will fight to strengthen our military, secure our border, and stand up for our Second Amendment rights all while working to restore order in our cities, build strong communities, and protect innocent lives—from the unborn to the elderly. POLICING Orlando stands alongside our law enforcement officers and first responders. Defunding or “reimagining” law enforcement is not the answer. Instead, we need to invest in training and resources to improve police practices and increase transparency and accountability. Orlando believes that body cameras should be mandatory for all police officers, and we need to work to build trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. NATIONAL DEFENSE As a former U.S. Army Officer and graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, Orlando is dedicated to ensuring that we maintain a strong and efficient military fully capable of defending the United States and our allies. As a member of Congress, Orlando will prioritize a strong national defense. Any attack on the United States should be met with a diligent and measured response. Orlando will always fight for the safety and security of all American citizens, both at home and abroad. PROTECTING FAMILIES PARENTAL RIGHTS Our rights as parents have been under attack in our country. There are those who advocate for government interference in our parental decisions, whether it’s in how we educate our kids, how we choose to provide for their healthcare, or in how we choose to bring them up in today’s world. As your congressman, I’ll defend our rights as parents. I’ll fight to protect our freedom to choose the best educational options for our kids and ensure that their healthcare decisions remain with us, the parents—not bureaucrats in Washington. SCHOOL CHOICE As the father of four kids below the age of 8, Orlando is committed to ensuring that all students, no matter their background, have access to quality education. That's why he is a supporter of school choice vouchers. Orlando believes that charter schools offer parents and students more educational options, especially for those who may not have access to high-quality public schools. In his experience, charter schools may provide a more innovative approach to education that is tailored to meet the specific needs of individual students. However, we must also ensure that charter schools are held to the same standards of accountability and transparency as traditional public schools to ensure that they are providing a quality education. Orlando is determined to empower parents to choose the school that best fits their child's needs. Vouchers can also help level the playing field for low-income families who may not have the financial means to send their children to a private school.
