It’s not just about economics; it’s about basic fairness and human dignity. Raising the minimum wage is a matter of economic justice. Too many hardworking Americans are struggling to make ends meet on poverty-level wages. By raising the minimum wage, we can lift millions of families out of poverty and provide them with the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their children. It’s also about reducing income inequality. In recent years, we’ve seen the gap between the rich and the poor widen to unprecedented levels. Raising the minimum wage is a critical step towards creating a more equitable society where everyone has a fair shot at success. But it’s not just about economics; it’s about values. Every worker deserves to be paid a fair wage for their labor. Raising the minimum wage is about ensuring that all workers are treated with dignity and respect in the workplace. By raising the minimum wage, we can also stimulate economic growth and create more demand for goods and services. When low-wage workers have more money to spend, they’re more likely to support local businesses and contribute to the overall health of our economy. In short, raising the minimum wage is not just the right thing to do; it’s the smart thing to do. It’s time for Congress to take action and give hardworking Americans the raise they deserve.

\n

Building Back Better Plan

\n

Criminal Justice Reform:\n
\n

Address systemic issues within the criminal justice system, such as racial disparities in sentencing and the overrepresentation of minorities in the prison population.

\n
Support alternatives to incarceration, such as drug courts and diversion programs, which prioritize rehabilitation and treatment over punishment.

\n
Advocate for policies to improve reentry programs and support formerly incarcerated individuals as they reintegrate into society, including access to housing, employment, and educational opportunities.

\n
Environmental Protection:\n
\n

Champion efforts to combat climate change and protect Mississippi’s natural resources, including supporting renewable energy initiatives and reducing carbon emissions.

\n
Advocate for policies to address environmental justice issues, such as protecting communities disproportionately affected by pollution and industrial development.

\n
Promote conservation efforts to preserve Mississippi’s wildlife habitats and promote sustainable land use practices.

\n
Civil Rights and Social Justice:\n
\n

Stand up for civil rights and social justice causes, including fighting against discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.

\n
Support legislation to strengthen voting rights and protect access to the ballot box for all eligible voters.

\n
Advocate for policies to address income inequality and promote economic opportunity for all Mississippians, regardless of their background.

\n
Infrastructure Investment:\n
\n

Prioritize infrastructure investment to modernize Mississippi’s transportation systems, including repairing and upgrading roads, bridges, and public transit systems.

\n
Expand access to broadband internet in rural areas to bridge the digital divide and support economic development opportunities.

\n
Invest in renewable energy infrastructure, such as solar and wind power, to create jobs and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.

\n
Rural Healthcare Access:\n
\n

Address the unique healthcare needs of rural communities by supporting policies to recruit and retain healthcare professionals in underserved areas.

\n
Expand telemedicine programs to improve access to medical care for rural residents, particularly those who may live far from healthcare facilities.

\n
Advocate for funding to support rural hospitals and clinics, which play a critical role in providing healthcare services to underserved populations.

\n
Support for Farmers:\n
\n

Stand up for farmers and agricultural communities by advocating for policies that support sustainable farming practices and protect against the impacts of climate change.

\n
Support efforts to expand access to markets for small and midsize farmers, including promoting farm-to-table initiatives and supporting local food systems.

\n
Advocate for policies to provide financial assistance to farmers during periods of economic hardship, such as crop failures or natural disasters.

\n
Gun Violence Prevention:\n
\n

Address the issue of gun violence by advocating for common-sense gun safety measures, such as universal background checks and closing loopholes in existing gun laws.

\n
Support policies to prevent gun trafficking and keep firearms out of the hands of individuals who pose a risk to themselves or others, while respecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.

\n
Invest in community-based violence prevention programs that address the root causes of gun violence, such as poverty, lack of access to education and economic opportunity, and systemic inequality.[2]

\n
\n<td style=\"border: none; Raising the Minimum Wage As a candidate running for Congress, I firmly believe in the importance of raising the minimum wage.
