What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office? I am Jeanette Cass, a candidate for U.S. Congressional District 4 in Missouri. I’m committed to representing all Missourians with respect in Washington, D.C. My life has been shaped by a wide range of experiences. I worked on my family’s dairy farm, spent time waitressing, worked in manufacturing and office administration, and eventually retired from the United States Postal Service. Those experiences taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. They also showed me that when people work together, they can find real solutions that make a difference in their communities. As a single mother, I have seen firsthand the challenges many families face, like finding affordable childcare, keeping Our economy under this congressman is devastating our state and our country! \r\nWhen we talk about the economy, we are talking about everyday life. It means being able to find and keep a good job, afford childcare, access medical care, and pay for groceries without stress. In Missouri’s 4th District, many families are still struggling in these areas. During Congressman Mark Alford’s time in office, people have not seen enough relief. Costs remain high, wages have not kept up, and families feel stretched thin. We need leadership that focuses on real solutions for working families and strengthens our local economy. In a district that consists of mostly rural counties, we need a representative who understands the different realities across our communities. Someone who knows the challenges farmers face in producing our food and understands the hurdles small businesses must overcome, but also recognizes the needs of urban areas that rely on manufacturing, entertainment, and other industries. That includes supporting the skilled trades and trade unions that keep our communities running. We need a person with common-sense values who reflects Missourians at every level. What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? I am most passionate about education because it is the foundation of our democracy. When people are well educated, they are better prepared to think critically, make informed decisions, and fully participate in their communities. For generations, education has helped build a strong nation, but we are at a point where many people feel left behind. We need to recommit to systems that support all Americans, including protecting workers and ensuring opportunities are available to everyone. Healthcare is also a top priority, especially in rural communities. Too many families are struggling to access care close to home, and recent cuts have only made that more difficult. What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign? I am awaiting confirmation, however, I am in a primary and they don’t usually endorse until after the primary election.\nNote: Ballotpedia reserves the right to edit Candidate Connection survey responses. Our Farms: With 95,000 farms, Missouri is the state with the second-most farms in the United States. It's our goal to bring respect and reverence back to the people who feed the nation and provide the basis for multiple national industries. We want to reestablish the country-of-origin legislation, and protect our participation in the global agricultural economy. If we serve the farmers who serve us, Missouri and the rest of the nation will thrive. Our Workforce: Plain and simple: Missouri needs jobs. With more available jobs, our small towns and rural communities would have the opportunity to create thriving local economies that would improve the financial health of the entire state. Additionally, as Jeanette is a dues-paying Union member of 30 years, we are pro-union and pro-laborer. Our Equality: The first version of the Equal Rights Amendment was introduced in 1923, and yet as women, we still do not have equal rights under the United States Constitution. Without this federal protection, our rights and autonomy can be—and are being—stripped away. In representing the Missouri, we want to co-sponsor the removal of the time limit on the ERA and work to finally ratify equal rights for women. Our Families: Working American families have long been burdened by the lack of affordable quality childcare and the pressures of work and finances. We wholeheartedly support the American Family Act of 2023 and believe our government can do more to help our families right here at home. [3] ” —Jeanette Cass' campaign website (2024) [4]"}]
