Morgan Ortagus (Republican Party) ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Tennessee's 5th Congressional District. She was disqualified from the Republican primary scheduled on August 4, 2022. On January 3, 2025, President-electDonald Trump (R) announced he would appoint Ortagus to be deputy special presidential envoy in the Middle East in his second presidential administration.
