I grew up in a military family in the Carson Valley and received my degree in Chemistry from the University of Nevada, Reno. My upbringing instilled the values of hard work and selfless service. I have always found myself in positions, either as an educator, leader, or within my current customer service role, where I am allowed to speak with the public daily and truly help enrich their everyday lives.\r\n<p>One of the many reasons I am running for Congress is because I am a scientist. I seek to help make science the foundation of the decisions made in Congress and the country. Being a scientist means being committed to compromise and finding a solution that benefits everyone. \r\n</p><p>Growing up in Northern Nevada, I understand and believe it represents a microcosm of the United States, both rural and developing. If elected, I will be the loudest voice for those overlooked by our current system, from the everyday Nevadan to Northern Nevada. I started this race because of the ever-increasing reports of suffering and hardship being met with disregard by our leaders. We need a voice who understands Northern Nevada and will fight for the needs of the people. We must be willing to work with and compromise with the other party if we are to accomplish any positive good.</li><li>I am a 5th generation Nevadan growing up in Douglas, Nevada, and to Reno to get my chemistry degree from the Universtiy of Nevada, Reno. Growing up in Northern Nevada, with extended spread throughout the entire state, allowed me to experience all which Northern Nevada offers and the unique needs and struggles we need to be addressed. We in the north face both urban and rural issues, and we need a representative who understands this and the unique needs of our state and of the people within it.</li><li>I have worked in both Washington DC and Reno under the late Senator Harry Reid, where I was able to witness what true leadership within governemnt is. I understand what it will take to achieve systematic change and will work to restore our faith within the political institution. Instead of working with compromise or even just trying to make small advancements, the system has reached a complete standstill and the general public is frustrated and done. Individuals living their whole lives in Nevada are now being priced out and leaving because they are not affording the same resources and abilities as those before. Further, we must work to revolutionize and revitalize our transportation system within the state. To move away from gasoline, we must build supporting infrastructure and provide reasons for electric vehicles and public transportation to move within or between cities and towns within the state. Finally, we suffer from unprecedented drought and longer fire seasons, yet no policy is moving forward. It is not about our future but those of our kids, grandkids, and their kids to come. I will be a loud supporter of education and environmental R&amp;D research. We must ensure our economy is not shocked by running out of fossil fuels by proactively preparing for the future and not reacting. We must look into every alternative power option available to us. The power is only as reliable as the source and storage.
