Going forward, we need strong effective leadership that can lead from the front. Often are elected officials are only interested in what is good for themselves and not what is good for their constituents. There are too many people in leadership positions that lack real world experience. They tend to be the country club elite, and look down their noses at we the people and hold us in the distain.</li><li>I have the drive, will, an experience needed to be in an effective leader. Unlike others in this race I have the commitment needed to move Mississippi and America forward. I have been married to my childhood sweetheart for over 46 years. Energy is the lifeblood of the American Economy. We can not and should not cut our use of fossil fuels. We need all forms of energy to grow our nation and economy. We need clean coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear, hydroelectric, hydrogen, wind, and solar.\n</p><p><b>Second Amendment</b>\n</p><p>The Second Amendment must be defended. Concealed carry licenses should be valid across all jurisdictions like an individual’s driver’s license. As an NRA member, i am proud to strongly support the Second Amendment.\n</p><p><b>Right to Life</b>\n</p><p>Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments. I believe that the Mississippi Law that was upheld by the US Supreme Court, that abortion is to be done only to save the life of the mother, is a commonsense approach to abortion.\n</p><p><b>Border Security</b>\n</p><p>Our National Borders must be secured! Build the wall now. Failure of our elected officials to secure the border should be considered dereliction of duty and grounds for removal from office. Any state, and/or local government that declares itself a sanctuary should be ineligible to receive any federal funding and aid. Anyone who illegally immigrates to the United States should never be permitted to vote in a federal election even if they are later awarded citizenship. \n</p><p><b>Healthcare Mandates</b>\n</p><p>I believe in free will/choice. That an individual has the right to refuse a vaccine or treatment based on personal choice and/or religious beliefs.\n</p><p>I also believe in the Right to Try Act S.204, an individual should be able to seek treatment that may be considered experimental. \n</p><p><b>Voter ID and Election Integrity</b>\n</p><p>A Government-issued photo ID should be required to vote. Voter IDs can include i.e. driver’s license, military ID, passport, etc. There should not be same-day registration. There should be a paper ballot/record produced when a vote is cast as part of a permanent record. It is election day not election season.\n</p><p><b>Church & State</b>\n</p><p>The church and State are independent of one another. However, the church cannot be removed from the fabric of our nation. Anyone who illegally immigrates to the United States should never be permitted to vote in a federal election even if they are later awarded citizenship. CHURCH & STATE The church and State are independent of one another. However, the church cannot be removed from the fabric of our nation. Per the US Constitution Art 4 Sec 3 via Northwest Ordinance; “Art 3 Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools, and the means of education shall forever be encouraged.” Holy Trinity v. Our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian beliefs and values. It is my belief that the separation of church and state was so that we would not have a mandated religion (The Church of England); not to restrict religion in the town square, schools, etc., that an individual is free to choose how or if they worship. Additionally, Mississippi is unique, the state constitution mandates the Holy Bible is part of the public school system and cannot be removed. The Mississippi Constitution Article 3 – Bill of Rights Sec. 18 No religious test as a qualification for office shall be required; and no preference shall be given by law to any religious sect, or mode of worship; but the free enjoyment of all religious sentiments and the different modes of worship shall be held sacred. The rights hereby secured shall not be construed to justify acts of licentiousness injurious to morals or dangerous to the peace and safety of the State, or to exclude the Holy Bible for use in any Public School of this State. I believe that business and leadership experience are beneficial. In addition to term limits there needs a probationary period upon leaving office that an elected official cannot work for lobby group for two years. Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful? I am hearing many people talking about the nation being on the edge of the cliff slipping into a socialist government. The cost of living and the devaluation of our assets/money is negatively effecting all American’s. We all see this every time we go to buy grocery’s or fill up the car. Then there is our retirement savings that are down 20 to 30% plus percentage points (dollar value) from before President Biden took office. As I look across the 2nd Congressional District of Mississippi I see a very poor struggling people. The district has had Democratic Control since the 80’s and the result is economic strife. Sixteen (16) of the poorest counties in nation are in this district with five (5) counties in the top 10 poorest counties in the nation. The District needs change and I am a agent of change that will be a cheerleader to promote Mississippi. Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking? Life, politics and marriage are all based on give and takes. There are times when comprise is needed. However, there are things that cannot be compromised. There can be no compromise when it will jeopardize national security or violate our founding principles and laws. The Constitution says that all bills for raising revenue must originate in the House.
