What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office? I am running for the 30th district seat of the US House of Representatives. Our district needs accurate and proper representation. I have lived in this district for most of my life, growing alongside my neighbors and community, experiencing firsthand the challenges and triumphs that define us. Now, more than ever, I want to stand up for all of my friends and neighbors who live here.\r\nIn our great state of Texas, a place rich with diversity, tenacity, and resilience, it is crucial that we have leaders who understand our unique values and needs. As someone who has walked the same streets, attended the same schools, and faced the same issues as many of you, I am committed to ensuring that our voices are rightly heard in Washington. For over 30 years, Texas's 30th Congressional District has been represented exclusively by Democrats.\r\nNow, for the first time, Republicans have a real opportunity to bring true conservative leadership to South Dallas and fight for the values we share.\r\nI'm Nils Walker, and I'm running to represent you in Washington with a strong, principled voice.\r\nTogether, we can:\r\n-Secure our borders\r\n-Protect our children\r\n-Lower taxes\r\n-Eliminate government waste and fraud\r\nYour vote in the Republican Primary on March 3, 2026, is the first step. Then, let's send a clear message in the general election.\r\nSupport conservative change. Vote Nils Walker for Congress. My plan is to get into office and fix the things that I can, then leave. Public office was never meant to be a life-long career. Our Founding Fathers crafted our Constitution to prevent a ruling class in the United States. Now, 250 years later, we have members of Congress serving for 50+ years. That was not the plan.\r\nI’ll fight to end this cycle.\r\n\r\nTerm limits will return power to the people, not the political class. What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Reducing the national debt Reforming immigration National security Term Limits Mental health reform\nNote: Ballotpedia reserves the right to edit Candidate Connection survey responses. Tell us about yourself. Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office? We cannot continue to use band-aid bills for national symptoms. Our best strategy for the future is to attack the root-causes of our national issues. Eliminate unnecessary spending, reform Immigration, revamp how we handle mental health issues, and institute term limits. We can't kick the can down the road forever. I am not a politician. I'm an IT guy. I have made a career out of finding the problem, fixing the problem, then returning to my desk. That is my goal for my time in Congress. This is not meant to be a lifetime career. I want to find the problems in Washington, do my part to fix those problems, then go home to live in the environment that I helped to create. I grew up in District 30, spending my formative years in Lancaster, TX. At 16, my family moved to California, where my parent's were born. They had hoped to live in the land of beauty and opportunity that they remembered growing up. Sadly, California had drastically changed in the years they had been gone. As I grew into an adult, starting my own career and family, I found I missed my home in Texas. At the first opportunity, I moved back to Texas. I bought a home in Grand Prairie 10 years ago. I love this district. I love the people here, the opportunity here. And I would be honored to serve as a voice on the national stage for my neighbors. What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about? Our national debt, our national security, and term limits for Congress. Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why? Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Stewart, Mr Rogers. Reagan was a man of wit and wisdom. He didn't always make the right decision, but he owned his mistakes and worked to make better decisions going forward. Jimmy Stewart was a quiet man, but a giant in the golden age of Hollywood. He was credited with being a man who was not conquered by the traps and pitfalls of the film industry, but was the conqueror of Hollywood. A man who kept his character and good name throughout his lengthy career. Mr Rogers. The preacher, the teacher, the neighbor. The man who always had a sweater ready in the closet, and a pearl of wisdom and comfort for all who watched him. He was the sort of person who welcomed all into his neighborhood, and we are all better off for it. He taught us to love each other and to find the wonder in the mysteries of our world. And most of all, he was our friend. What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official? Honesty, integrity, wisdom, strength. There is an old saying, that only crooks and crazy people become politicians. The problem is that we have ended up with just that. We have forgotten that it is our duty, as American citizens, to find and raise up those among us that are worthy of being our voice on the national stage. We must find those of good moral standing, wise counsel, an honest heart and the strength to stand against those who would try to control and corrupt them. What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office? To safeguard our constituents from bad policy and to listen to the will of the people when making informed decisions regard new legislation. What legacy would you like to leave? That I was able to give God the glory for anything I might have done. For it is through Him that I have anything, and it is to Him that I dedicate all I have. What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time? When the Berlin wall was torn down in 1989. I was 7 years old. What was your very first job? How long did you have it? RiteAid pharmacy/convenience store in Elk Grove, California. I was a supervisor for 3 years. What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution? The U.S. House incorporates the multitude of voices from all corners of our great country. Where it's not just one voice from a particular state, but representatives of ideas and walks of life from many parts of those states. Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics? It can be, but it's not necessary. We all have to start somewhere. What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade? Our national dept/deficit. Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives? Yes. It provides enough time to get their bearings, and for the public to evaluate if they're doing a good job or not. What are your thoughts on term limits? Yes Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful? While gathering signatures at a grocery store, a young man stated that our politics probably weren't the same. I told him that was fine and that it takes all of us coming together and talking to make this thing work, and to have a nice day. A few minutes later, he returned with an intense look in his eyes. He stopped me and told me that my words had touched his heart. That we don't stop and talk enough, before resorting to hate and violence. He signed my petition and said he would vote for me, even though he was a Democrat. Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking? Yes. We are a nation of many thoughts and perspectives. It is only when we come together, compare our ideas and fit everything together, that this grand experiment, our Constitutional Republic, can work. The Constitution says that all bills for raising revenue must originate in the House. What role would this power play in your priorities if elected? The government is not a for-profit enterprise. As representatives of the American people, we should be lowering costs and cutting taxes. What legislation would you enact related to election administration in the United States? End all electronic voting, institute paper ballots and hand counting/verification of votes, mandate single-day voting and limit the use of mail-in ballots to those overseas and non-ambulatory.
